With over 3000 different species of stick and leaf insect, ranging from 0.5-13 inches in size, this little guy can’t help but wonder why none of them grow up to be trees. It’s ok though, because we have told him that he can be whatever he wants to be, and he is taking that very seriously.

Although they are often referred to as “walking sticks” (genius), their scientific name is “phasmatodea” which is derived from ancient greek and means apparition or phantom. This refers to their incredible camouflage, which is considered the most efficient on earth. Although this species is designed to blend in, it’s important to be true to yourself, so if you identify as a Christmas tree, then you don that tinsel and shine, baby, shine!

Darcy and Luna Designs was born after our founder and artist, Milly, lost her two beloved guinea pigs. They were her friends when she was lonely, her entertainment when she was sad, her reason to get up when she just wanted to stay in bed. If this wasn’t reason enough, then the fact that guinea pigs are the most underrated pet is!

This made her think - what other underrated animals are out there? Darcy and Luna Designs is all about paying homage to those animals that are just as adorable as dogs, elephants, hedgehogs and donkeys, just a little more… alternative!
