As a species, donkeys are already pretty popular, and therefore an unusual choice for our underrated animal collection. However, did you know that in Italy, you can find donkeys that are designated nannies to lambs? We felt these adorable babysitters needed a shout out. Used to transport lambs that are too young or small to make the journey alone, donkeys wear blankets featuring large pockets that are the perfect size for a lamb. Another glorious use for pockets! Known for being territorial and protective, these creatures make the perfect nannies for bringing livestock down from the high pastures to the plains of Italy. Admit it, your day just got a little brighter.

Darcy and Luna Designs was born after our founder and artist, Milly, lost her two beloved guinea pigs. They were her friends when she was lonely, her entertainment when she was sad, her reason to get up when she just wanted to stay in bed. If this wasn’t reason enough, then the fact that guinea pigs are the most underrated pet is!

This made her think - what other underrated animals are out there? Darcy and Luna Designs is all about paying homage to those animals that are just as adorable as dogs, elephants, hedgehogs and donkeys, just a little more… alternative!
